I had a great week at the annual Assn. of Golf Clubfitting Professionals (AGCP) Roundtable.  In fact, it turned out to be the best of the four Roundtables I have attended thus far.  Excellent presentations on clubfitting, the relationship of fitting and the golf swing, golf fitness and the golf swing, and marketing and business management guidance for clubfitters.

It would be hard to pick out one presentation that was better than others.  But it was not hard to remember one of the key overall points from the Roundtable.  This point was made by Eric Hogge, the Head Professional Teaching and Learning Center in Port Saint Lucie, Florida.  Eric said the following….

YOUR GOLF CLUBS WILL TEACH YOU HOW TO SWING

There is definitely a strong relationship between custom clubfitting and the golf swing.  If you want to develop a good golf swing, and your clubs are too long/short, too heavy/light, etc. your swing will be influenced by your clubs.  It also goes the other way – if you have a poor golf swing it is going to be difficult to fit you for a set of clubs that will give you excellent results.

What is important is to strike the right balance in connecting fitting and golf swing instruction.  It was great that we spent more than a day of our time during the Roundtable discussing just how to reach this balance to help golfers achieve better results.

The Fit Is IT!!
