I am in the process of completing an exam to enhance my AGCP professional clubfitting certification.  One of the questions relates to information in the booklet written by Tom Wishon – “12 Myths That Can Wreck Your Golf Game.” (And by the way, if you are reading this and want a free electronic version of this booklet, just email me at tony@gameimprovement.com and I will send it to you).

In re-reading the 12 Myths booklet while flying home from Montana yesterday, I was struck by a phrase that was in Myth 10 – ‘Any club that’s not a “brand name” is junk.’  This phrase was in the paragraph below…

‘…My designs, when custom fit, and the clubs of a few companies similar to mine, are not made 100,000 at a time to the same specifications.  They are made one at a time, to your specifications.  They are not “one size fits all.”  The are “one club, one customer, one clubmaker.”

Golfers have the CHOICE of getting clubs that are not made 100,00 at a time to the same specifications – they can get one club, one customer, one club maker.  If a golfer needs to play a bag full of hybrid clubs to get the best performance these are available to custom specs.  If a golfer needs a driver 2 inches shorter and with 3 degrees more loft and with 0 degrees face angle, these are available from custom club fitters and club makers.  Golfers can find the one club, for them, that will produce better performance.  How can it get any better?  Tom, you did it again…

The Fit Is IT!!
