Use Club Bounce On Running Chip Shots Too!

Last week I wrote my monthly newsletter and included in it a video titled "Bounce Your Chip Shots" – it was by Fred Griffin, a Top 100 Instructor.   It was so good I would like to provide it here also…

The article is focusing on short pitch shots actually, with wedges.  After thinking about it, I wondered if the same concept would hold for more normal chip shots with clubs like 7 irons and 9 irons.  With those clubs, in the past I have used some forward shaft lean and so reduced the effectiveness of the "bounce" on these clubs.  These clubs typically only have around 3 or 4 degrees of bounce.  So what if I did not use forward shaft lean with these shots – would bounce be my friend with these clubs too?

Well – for me – the results were better than expected.  In the past I would "chunk" some of these shots – and now know it was because of taking the bounce out of the clubs.  For the past week or so I have hit all of my running chip shots keeping the bounce on the club, but still making sure I do not let the club pass my hands.  Every shot has been crisp and now I have more confidence in these shots.

So – Bounce Can Be Your Friend With ALL Of Your Chip Shots! – you should consider experimenting for yourself and see if this works for you.

The Fit Is IT!!
