Changing your driver face angle can immediately give you performance improvement results!
Sometimes great improvement can result from small, simple changes. I have a friend who recently asked me to regrip his clubs. He has an over-the-top swing, and hits all shots with a substantial fade. He is not (at least presently) interested in taking instruction to change that.
When I started working on his clubs, I did loft and face angle measurements on his driver – an OEM face-angle adjustable model. It had settings for Normal – Open – and Closed. It was set on Normal – but measurements showed that Normal was 3 degrees Open Face. For a player whose normal shot is a slice (oops, I mean fade….!), an open faced driver is not a great option.
So – I suggested that he change to the Closed Face Angle setting. While I did not measure the final face angle, visually I was certain that it was a few degrees closed.
I emailed him after his round and asked how he hit his drives. He said Straighter and Longer. Straighter – because now the difference between his Path and his Face At Impact was less. Longer – because not as much fade on his shots.
How Simple. How Much Fun! But also what if I never measured his driver settings – then he would Have Never Known the truth, and would have kept hitting big short fades.
For you – there is SO much to be gained from knowing what the specs are on your golf clubs. Maybe you might find that a little tweek – like this one – can result in big improvements!!
How About You? – have you ever discovered a small change you could make in your golf clubs that resulted in improved results?
The Fit Is IT!!
