Aim your putter at your target first, THEN set your stance!

Wow, it sounds so simple doesn't it?  But over and over, I see golfers who set their feet, then attempt to aim the putter at the target – with poor results.

During the BMW tour event this past week, I watched Tiger play some on Friday.  He missed a few short putts – around 3 feet- and if he had made them, his score would have been much better.

For at least one of the putts, it was clear at address that he was aimed to the left of the hole.  There was almost no chance he was going to make that putt, unless he unconsciously adjusted his stroke for the mis aim.

I played with a good friend two weekends ago, and she did not realize that she was setting her stance first and then aiming her putter.  For many of her putts, she was far off of her line at address.  She is working on changing this, and it will be fun to see the improved results in her putting.

If you set your stance before aiming your putter at your target, you may or may not be aiming correctly.  But you are leaving a lot to chance for that stroke.

The other thing that you gain from Aiming First is that gives you a mindset of attention to aim at the start of your setup.  Then you can focus on speed, let go – and make more putts.

Again, it sounds so simple – but this fun game of golf has many things that are simple but have a big influence on results.  Aim First, Then Set Your Stance – and MAKE MORE PUTTS!

The Fit Is IT!!
