Doug Trophy

Last night I returned home from our annual Florida Golf Trip.  Six days of golf in Georgia and Florida with 16 golf friends.  Each year we compete for a trophy – best total net score over 3 rounds of golf.  This year congratulations to Doug Goeringer – holding the trophy in the picture – he definitely played the best golf to win the trophy this year.

For me, this year's trip was an eye opener about what is possible in my personal golf game.  About 3 months ago, I started down a path of improving my golf game.  Before this time I was an 8 handicap, but my ball flight results – weak fade – and golf distance results – I could hit a 6 iron a max of about 150 yards when I really made great contact – were not what I knew I was capable of.

For the past 3 months I have had some great help from some of my AGCP friends to start me down the path of improving my game and my enjoyment of my game.  Mike McFadden from Germany helped me to improve my grip and also to start learning how to improve my ball flight through control of my club face.  Brian Morrissey from Canada did an evaluation of my overall golf fitness and provided me with a set of flexibilty exercises to do.  Brian also guided me to use his "Power Stroke" swing speed improvement trainer, so that I could do exercises with a training club to improve my swing and swing speed.

I am convinced that these kinds of results are available to all golfers.  The golf improvement knowledge available in custom fitting, short game improvement, flexibility, and swing improvement is there for every golfer to take advantage of.  And if we do, we can play golf that will surprise and delight us.  Having fun on the golf course and smiling because of the results we achieve is the way to go!
