Edel Golf Creates True Custom Putters!

Today was Day One of learning to be an Edel Custom Putter Fitter.  Bobby Dean, head of Sales and Product Development, spent the entire day teaching me how aim, path, and speed are affected by different putter designs and fitting characteristics, and how the Edel Fitting System can be used to create putters that truly fit them.  There are more than 270 million combinations of putter characteristics that can be varied to create an Edel Putter.

Bobby spent about 5 hours during the day teaching me about the Edel system.  Edel has also developed a new Wedge Fitting System and Bobby sent me some of the wedges from this system so that he could also train me in using this.  We went outside and he went through a wedge fitting with me – hitting 60 degree wedges with different bounce configurations.  The wedge that I hit the best had 27 degrees of bounce (did you say 27 degrees of bounce? – more on this at a later time).  It was easy to hit.  Then a break and some dinner…….

THEN back to Centenial Golf Academy to do a demo fitting on Me.  I found out that I have a strong tendency to aim my present putter well to the left.  We tested a number of head types, aim line configurations on the putter (Aim Lines make a BIG difference in how you aim your putter!), hosel offset and hosel type and found one that I could easily aim straight.

Then – and this part was equally as great as fitting for aim – I hit 12 foot putts and Bobby found a weighting configuration that allowed me to easily control distance of my putts.  At the start with no added weight, I was hitting the ball well past the test line – and we added weight and counterweight in the putter to help me develop a good putting rhythm and also easily control distance.

My final putter – already on order – will have these characteristics:

33 inches long, Columbia mallet type head, 1 Top Line (again lines make a huge aim difference!), 70 degrees of lie, "S1" type hosel, 1 degree of loft, 370 gram head weight, 50 gram Opti Vibe counterweight located 3 inches down the shaft, standard flex shaft, round grip, Pixl Insert in face.  I ordered the Variable Weight putter which will give me the option to change putter weight for different speed greens if necessary.

Tomorrow – 6 Demo Putter Fittings to get more experience in using the Edel Putter Fitting System.  But so far – as far as I am concerned it is the Real Deal!

The Fit Is IT!
