My good friend Mike Kell, an AGCP Level 9 Professional Club Fitter in Florida, sent a link today to a video taken at a recent PGA tour event.  The video – taken with a high-speed camera at 18,000 frames a second – shows the difference between the type of center impact that PGA tour players produce – versus some off-center impact shots from some shots amateur golfers hit.  Pretty amazing stuff!

High Speed Video of Club Impact

Personally I never had seen video like this in the past.  It clearly shows how important Center Impact on a golf club is for producing good CONSISTENT golf shots.  Certainly Tour Players feel the difference between solid center impact and off-center impact, and they make sure their golf clubs are fitted for them to produce center impact results.

Many of the 21 key variables of custom club fitting can have an influence on Center Impact – but the ones that most often will have influence on Club Length, Club Flex and Flex Profile, and Club MOI / Swingweight.

Is it any wonder, then, that PGA Tour players on average use driver length of 44-1/2 inches – rather than the 45-1/2 inches or longer drivers that are sold in golf stores?

Remember – Center Impact actually produces Most Distance and Most Consistent Shot Results……….exactly what we all need and dream of to play our best golf!

The Fit Is IT!!
