Having an impact on golfers and their golfing enjoyment is what motivates me.
A few blog posts ago, I mentioned that I am working on an eBook that will be titled "10 Simple Putting Improvement Tasks That WORK!" About half of this eBook is now complete, and I hope to have it finished and published (with help from Susan Anderson and Triumph Communications) in early January. I am excited about how this effort is going, and believe that the eBook content will be valuable to help golfers improve their putting.
When I first thought about writing this eBook, my motiviation was to offer it on my web site as a download to golfers who sign up to receive my monthly newsletter or blog post. These days, this is a standard approach used by many to expand their email lists. The more I thought about this approach, though, the more I realized it is not for me. Some of this is the result of all of the messages I get on line where free content is offered if I provide contact information. Often after I "sign up" I get lots of cookbook messages back that are obviously not personal, and many of these are asking me to buy this and subscribe to that. And it gets a little tiring.
Today I started listening to a great audio book (Audible.com) that put things in perspective for me. It is titled "The Impact Equation, …" by Chris Brogan and Julien Smith. Right at the start they made a statement that was a home run to me – "The People Are What Matters." That really got my attention. For me and my business – at the core – The Golfers are What Matters. Helping golfers play their best golf using custom fit golf clubs that truly fit them and their swings.
So my plan is to do things a bit differently with my "Putting Improvement Task" eBook. For at least a month after it is published, anyone will be able to download it for free from my web site – even if they do not provide me with their contact information. I will provide links so that people who download my eBook can also sign up for some of my other resources – but it will not be required. I believe the information in the eBook will help golfers play better golf – and that alone will make the effort worthwhile for me.
So – back to work on the eBook!
