I hope readers of this blog know that I work to focus it on information that can help golfers improve.
This week is a little different twist on that theme, but from the standpoint of equipment that I will use in my future custom fittings. Today I purchased a world-class launch monitor system, the Flightscope X1. It is a radar based system that in one unit can do the following:
1. Measure club and ball speed, ball spin, launch angle, power transfer ratio and other “typical” launch monitor parameters;
2. In addition can measure club acceleration and velocity data, and so allow a fitter to see the influence of the shaft on how the club performs;
3. Measures club swing path and face angle;
4. Measures actual ball flight to the point of landing and also estimates ball rollout;
5. Has great diagnostic screens to allow a fitter to see things like the dispersion of shots with a specific club, comparison of all of the basic data, and other diagnostics.
If you want to see more specific information about the Flightscope, you can do so at this web address – www.flightscope.com.
It is going to be exciting to add this equipment to my tool kit for custom fitting – Santa, you have done well (I must have been good this year!). Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
The Fit Is IT!!
