Great Golf Club Fitters Love Golf, Focus On Measured Results, and Do Not Compromise to Please Clients.

Today was a very busy and productive (I hope!) day.  There were quite a few things that happened today that were pleasing for my clients and for me:

1.  Last week I made some adjustments (FLOed driver and 3 wood) shafts for a golf scholarship player.  Today I found out that he made the team group that will play in their first 2 matches of the year.  While I do not believe the shaft work was the reason, it was delightful to have had a small hand in him be successful.

2.  One of my female clients – who I had built a set of iron hybrid clubs for – told me today that she recently shot her lowest 9 hole score ever.  She beamed – and so did I!

3.  An AGCP custom club fitting friend of mine did an iron fitting for a junior player.  He recommended that the player play an Aerotech SteelFiber shaft, based on measured results.  Someone "who thinks he knows better" said the player should not do this, that he should be playing steel.  Well, the club fitter stuck to his guns, and the player was built a test iron with the Aerotech SteelFiber shaft.

4.  Today was the first round of the Tennessee Women's Senior Open Championship, held at the Oak Ridge Country Club.  I volunteered to be a spotter on the par 5 7th hole.  It was fun to watch all of the ladies compete.  I also agonized when some of them hit poor shots, and was pulling for them to recover from these shots.

Hopefully some of the characteristics of these different events are things that golfers should look for when they are looking for a custom club fitter:

1.  A great club fitter loves everything about golf.  He loves it when each and every golfer he works with gets great results.  He also is dedicated not so much to selling golf clubs for its own sake, but to creating high-performance golf clubs that will help golfers achieve their golfing goals.

2.  A great club fitter is focused on and driven by the results achieved in his fittings.  He in fact is looking, with every client, to fit them into the clubs that produce the best possible results – and desires as a goal that these clubs will be the last set of clubs this player needs.

3.  A great club fitter does not compromise when he does a fitting.  He is in charge of the fitting, and has the knowledge and experience to warrant this.  If the golfer does not agree with the fitting results, the great club fitter will not build non-optimal clubs just to make a sale.  His integrity is on the line with each and every fitting.

Hopefully pretty high standards! – but what each and every golfer deserves from a custom club fitting.

The Fit Is IT!!
