Use a small ruler to check putter grip alignment.

Grip Ruler

This past week I met with a new female golfer who wants to be fitted for clubs.  When I have initial meetings with golfers, the first thing I do is to check if their putter grip is installed on correctly.  As noted in my new eBook "It's Time YOU Improved Your Putting!" (to download for free, click HERE) out-of-alignment putter grips can affect where a putter face points at impact (and a golfer may never realize this is an issue!).

For this particular golfer, her grip was installed about 10 degrees off of square.  She was having a difficult time being able to see this – and then I thought of a simple way to show her how her grip is aligned.  I took a small plastic ruler – like the one shown above – and placed it flat against the flat part of the putter grip.  THEN I could have her look down the ruler to the face of the putter – and it was EASY to see that the grip alignment was not correct.  Neat!

So how about you – putter grip alignment is SUPER important to helping you putt your best.  How about taking your putter, putting a small ruler on the flat side of the grip, and seeing how YOUR grip is aligned?  At worst you will find that it is on correctly.  If not, getting your putter regripped can have a positive impact on how well you putt.

If you do this test, please comment below on what you found out – thanks!
