Today's AGCP Tennessee Chapter meeting was all about putting!

For the first time in about 3 years, I contracted broncitis this weekend.  But it did not keep me from attending today's AGCP Tennessee Chapter meeting, held in Columbia TN.  Dan Wilt and Jim Holley get a lot of credit for putting this "all about putting" (awful pun!!) session together.  Ted Gallina and Alex Rochelle spent the morning talking about SeeMore putters and putter fitting – and I spent the afternoon doing some SAM PuttLab sessions with the Tennessee chapter members.  We had a great day and all learned a lot to help golfers improve their putting.

One of the highlights of the meeting for me was something that Ted said during his presentation.  He said that when he does putting lessons he feels that he….

Gradually breaks you down and builds you up to a solid foundation.

That made a lot of sense to me.  He said this at least five times during the morning, so I am sure he believes it is imortant.  The two parts of the statement resonate equally with me….

  • Gradually breaking your down…  Gradually seems very important to me.  It is not always easy to help someone make substantial change to their putting strokes – but if you can help them do it gradually, you have a good chance of success.

  • Build you up to a solid foundation.  Helping you get a solid foundation for your new putting stroke can make it easy for you to keep the changes you are working on.

More and more, I appreciate how important it is to give golfers bite-sized chunks of information to help them improve their putting strokes.  Thanks Ted!
